Denise Heller - Production Designer

Being an astute observer "of all things film," Denise trained extensively for her role of Production Designer/Prop Nazi. Prior to the shoot she prepared herself for the rigors of set design by running up and down stairs with a large tool box - around camera dollies and C-stands, zigzagging under and over christmas lights and could be heard yelling things like "Don't Eat The Props!!" and "Where's My Double-Sided Tape!!" This training served her well and with the aide of trusty-side-kick roommate, Denise Chlebik, the set started to feel a lot like Christmas in (nearly) no time at all! In one of her proudest moments, Denise was unexpectedly awarded the coveted role of Vegetarian Chef by Craft Services. Lessons learned? Thou shalt not trust frozen turkey-pot-pie and Love that Trader Joe Bean Soup! Native to the Washington DC Metro area, Denise Heller is an experienced production designer/decorator who is not afrad to act! She has worked extensively behind the scenes with Tsunami Theatre Company and more recently with Writer/Director Rohit Colin Rao. She has been seen in a variety of plays, (Othello, Tangled Wings and Dancing with the Devil) and is actively transitioning to a career in film. Whether that career be in front of the camera or behind it, Denise is ready for whatever "Fruitcakes" may come her way.

Dominic Pesce - Composer

Dominic began his music career at the tender age of 7 when a piano magically appeared at this house. "This was the first time I had really started to take notice of music," says Dominic. His interest in music was furthered by violin lessons and then saxophone throught high school. Playing jazz and pit orchestra scores for school performances, Dominic was chosen to attend college level courses during his junior year at the University of Cincinnati¹s prestigious Conservatory of Music. The Louis Armstrong Jazz achievement award as well as first chair status marked his senior year. He attended college in Boston where he fell away from jazz, but took up the guitar and bass guitar. He eventually landed in San Diego and started playing in local area clubs. His meeting with several composers sparked his interest in film composition and Dominic built a professional midi studio for film scoring. "Cake was the first feature length picture that I had an opportunity to score that gave me the freedom to find musical themes that locked well to picture. There were some rewrites initially, but James Thompson (director) and I worked them out." Dominic also created sound design for "Cake" along with audio post in Final Cut Pro. Dominic has begun work on 2 other short films "Journalisms" and "Hopeless" which will be finished in the early part of 2002.
